Have you heard about Cristobal Balenciaga ? Maybe you have no idea of this man, but I will bring it to your mind. He is the creator of the famous fashion brand–Balenciaga. You will be amazed by his life.
When he was just 13 years old, the Spanish Marquise of Casa Torres encouraged Cristobal to design a dress for her. Then he strat his life in fashion, he learned French went to the city of fashion–Paris. He made a great progress there and went back to Spain in 1915. At the age of 34, he start his first design house in San Sebastian under his name–Balenciaga. The best-dressed women in the world all wore Balenciaga’s creations regularly such as Duchess of Windsor, Princess Grace of Monaco, the Queen of Belgium, the Queen of Spain. Ed Hardy Women
Balenciaga moved to Paris because of the Spanish civil war and presented his first collection in August of 1937. He was hailed as the new leading light for his stylish fashion in one year. More and more women wore Cristobal’s dress and Balenciaga became well known all over the world.
In 1945 the world war ?was over, Balenciaga produced great creations of lace, velvet, sequined satin and lots of new hats. Balenciaga hated the fashion press and publicity, and from 1957 denied them entry to his collections. He held his shows a full month after all the other couturiers. He hated the idea of working to please a voracious press that demanded new ideas with every collection. He did not work that way. He refined his ideas with every collection, increasing the level of excellence. He trained Givenchy, Courreges, Ungaro and others and they even now, regard him as their mentor. He was called the “flame of prophecy”. In 1972, he died at age 77
